Events entrepreneur delivers lecture at Manchester’s MMU

One of the country’s most successful businesswomen, the event management entrepreneur Lizevents_entrepreneur Taylor of the Taylor Lynn Corporation (TLC), delivered a guest lecture to students of Manchester’s MMU Business School recently. The topic: how to beat recessions, business disasters and bridezillas to become a successful events planner.

Liz, who is the managing director of the Manchesterbased event management company, spoke to over 100 students about taking her business from humble beginnings with just a few hundred pounds of her own money as start-up capital, to a business that works with the likes of Gary Barlow, Robbie Williams, stars of Coronation Street and leading blue-chip businesses, and now delivers a turnover pushing four million pounds per year. She offered an insight in her busy company, key elements in planning a successful event, anecdotes highlighting the highs and lows of running her own business and advice to the students on how to make planning their own event a success.

Fireworks contractor cleared of breaching health and safety laws

Aerial acrobat joins expanding Wildgoose events team

Award-winning urban events specialists Wildgoose Events continues its expansion plans with the appointment of three new members of staff who have joined the Wildgoose team. Lilli Muehleisen is a professional circus performer who joins the team as a Project and Event Manager. Lilli, who has performed aerial acrobatics all over the world, also qualified in business studies and has successfully managed to combine both careers. She has been working as a Freelance Event Manager for a number of events companies and on hearing about Wildgoose from her colleagues she contacted the company to see if there were any openings.

Ashtead appoints new MD for Eve

Nigel Quinn is joining Eve as Managing Director following the acquisition of the Eve group ofashtead_appoints companies by Ashtead Plant Hire Company Ltd (A-Plant) in May last year. Nigel brings with him many years experience as a business leader and in directorship roles, working most recently as the Divisional Managing Director of Elliott Modular. He is said by Ashstead to be skilled at identifying and understanding business imperatives, with excellent strategic vision and a strong focus on people development. He will be based at offices in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, and will be working closely with the teams at Eve to enhance performance and processes, develop new strategies and, ultimately, drive the company towards an even more positive future.
