  • The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is due to publish a revised version of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations this year and it is expected that the updated document will, for the first time, cover the ‘build and break’ construction work undertaken at sites where indoor and outdoor events are held.

  • Walk the Plank have been announced as Directors of Hull’s Freedom Festival - the soon-to-be UK City of Culture’s annual three day festival, dedicated to the celebration and exploration of freedom through arts and culture.
ADVICE
  • A serie of recommendations to support the UK events industry achieve its ambitions to grow from £36bn to £48.4bn by 2020 were released in December as a result of the first ever All Party Parliamentary Group for Events (APPG) Inquiry into the international competitiveness of the UK events industry.

  • Showsec have launched 2014 with a newlook London operation after making significant changes in response to the sustained growth of the company.

  • EEF Venues has been named ‘No 1 Small Group’ and ‘Best Value for Money Group’ in the VenueVerdict Awards 2013 – the only industry awards programme to be based entirely on the voice of the customer.
Event Organiser Magazine is the official journal of TESA (The Event Services Association), the UK body representing event organisers and suppliers to the industry. The magazine is published five times a year and distributed to key names in the trade.
